Reconnoiter is a Gears of War fanfiction by Screennameless. It can be found here, at its original location; and here, on the wiki. Screennameless would prefer you read the story on FF.net because it has an easily accessible visitor tracking system. When you read it here she gets a less accurate measure of its traffic.
Reconnoiter takes place immediately after Gears of War 2. It has now been rendered NCF by Gears of War: Jacinto's Remnant, and appropriate disclaimers and explanations are included on the directory page. It is currently undergoing revision of its first 10 or so chapters, so all the chapters being currently published are heavily revised reposts.
Its original draft has received many positive reviews and is praised for "totally *perfect* characterization" of the canon characters as well as introducing original characters that are "believable and what's more LIKEABLE". The story is rife with pop culture references, shout-outs, and odd tidbits (Did you know adding salt to coffee can help counteract bitterness? It's true!).
Screennameless is known for pimping That Other Wiki to everyone within range, responding to her reviews nigh immediately, and updating at an insane pace (attempting to post something every three days) biweekly on Tuesdays sporadically.
