Triton Dynamics is a major defense and aerospace company. Before Emergence Day Triton Dynamics was one of the largest defense contractors on Sera, and with the loss of almost all its competitors is now so. It was formed in 57 BE when the Triton Corporation merged with Defense Dynamics. It has produced many iconic products for a host of different nations, most notably the Petrel fighter-bomber, the King Raven helicopter, and the Centaur tank.
Following the mergers of several other major defence contractors, the Triton Corporation was now a comparatively small company. Under pressure to continue to compete with the other companies, Triton began considering whether it should also expand its business. At the same time several of Triton's customers made it clear that they wished to see the merger of several contractors in order to make more economical use of their defence budgets.
After much consideration the then chairman of the Triton board, Richard Petrach, and the CEO of the smaller Defence Dynamics announced that the companies would merge to form Triton Dynamics. This was a surprise to many industry and economic analysts of the time. It was argued that Defence was too small to make the merger viable, and that the new company would still not be able to compete with its bigger rivals. In addition, there was controversy over the value of Defence shares. It had been decided that after the merger any previously owned shares of Defence would be worth 32.1% of the total value of the new entity, and Triton shares would be worth 67.9%. Many analysts said that this was unfair to Defence shareholders, and that the company had been considerably undervalued. However, the board of the new Triton Dynamics stuck with the decision.
Over the next decade the company defied many predictions of failure to become one of the "Big Six" Seran defence contractors. Many cite this crucial success to the direction of Richard Petrach, who carried over his position in the Triton Corporation to Triton Dynamics. In spite of fierce competition, the company won two major contracts in its first 5 years (most notably the Siren class cruiser). By the end of this first decade revenue had increased by 12.7% and the average share price by 13.2%
